The meeting started with a conversation around key regional opportunities, priorities and messaging. This included an update on the national context, discussing Scottish Government proposals for empowering regional economic partnerships and the UK Government’s Local Growth Fund.
REP members also considered the importance of developing cultural capital in the South of Scotland and emerging opportunities for the region, with discussion led by REP member Historic Environment Scotland. The meeting finished with updates on progress being made on the REP’s key priorities: skills, transport and housing, along with an update on actions in the REP’s three-year Delivery Plan.
